After two years of experimental programming, The Composing Rooms Berlin returned to a more conventional gallery roster with three solo exhibitions by Nina Cristante, R. Lord, and Ry David Bradley, and a duo show with Estrid Lutz and Emile Mold before the closing group exhibition that celebrated the culture of tea and its origins. room.thecomposingrooms.com also hosted it’s final solo show: Giovanna Olmos’ How to sell a digital painting.

Thirsty Garten is a special exhibition as it takes influence from the beloved Thirsty Moon – a tea shop specialising in Chinese whole leaf teas – and Teri Garten – a gallery initiated by Paul Sochacki within the shop in Berlin Mitte, 2014–2016. Together they created a space for friendship, exchange and community.

Giovanna Olmos – How to sell a digital painting

‘How to sell a digital painting’ started as a performative action of making and auctioning a ‘Selfie Painting’, something Olmos had started doing of her own Selfies on her phone in 2014. With each step of her performance she drew attention to the banal details of the process, especially the implicit use of digital tools, with humour, transparency and sincerity. The steps are clearly illustrated in the later project ‘How to buy a Digital Portrait’.

Nina Cristante – United

The Composing Rooms are happy to present United, the first solo exhibition in Germany by Nina Cris-tante (1988, Rome, IT). The exhibition comprises posters and sculptural work representative of her inter-ests in the body as site of reconstruction and performance of friendship.
