Nina Cristante – United

20 February – 2 April 2016

The Composing Rooms are happy to present United, the first solo exhibition in Germany by Nina Cris-tante (1988, Rome, IT). The exhibition comprises posters and sculptural work representative of her inter-ests in the body as site of reconstruction and performance of friendship.

Black and white A0 posters depict cropped and edited images of couples performing acroyoga poses, many set against ocean landscapes. The poster here is a reference to both the museum gift shop poster, imaging the zoomed in focus on brush stokes of Van Gogh for example, and simultaneously Flyposting, familiar to propaganda and advertising.

Sculpture, made from familiar soft toy characters, draw a correlation to the posters.

Cristante's ongoing works Zao Dha Diet (www.zdd.website) and Fitness Povero are highly individuated nutrition and health consultation systems. The Fitness Povero exercise routines focus on independent workouts in time of austerity and active living, eliminating economic restraints by using what is readily available.

Exhibitions and projects include; hot16, in collaboration with Dean Blunt – Years, Copenhagen, Denmark [2016]; Fitness Povero – Homeworks – 63rd 77th Steps, Bari, Italy [2015] and Anti SAD – Bold Tenden-cies, London, UK [2013]. Nina Cristante has been interviewed by and contributed to DIS Magazine and she has worked on projects published by Nero Magazine. Upcoming projects include with Life Sport, Athens, Greece, and a residency with Varda Artist Residency in Sausalito, USA. Cristante also produces music which can be found at: soundcloud.com/ninandkris.
